After successfully administering the coronavirus vaccine to almost all senior citizens in the country, the US now aims to make it possible for all adults to receive the vaccine on April 19.
U.S. President Joe Biden, on Tuesday, announced during a speech at the White House that every adult over the age of 18 will now be allowed to stand in line for vaccination.
However he also warned the country not to stop following coronavirus-related protective measures and limitations set by experts.
"We are no longer on the line. We still have a lot of work to do," he said from the White House. "We are in a race for life and death to fight the virus."
Since the announcement, most countries have already confirmed that they will be able to meet the deadline, which stipulates that the goal will be achieved two weeks before the first deadline of May 01.
In addition, states such as New Jersey and Oregon have announced that all Americans over the age of 16 will now be able to register for the vaccine on April 19.
Biden also emphasized that making all adults eligible for vaccination will help bring clarity as there will be "no more confusing laws, no more confusing limits".
He urged everyone to register and get vaccinated against the deadly coronavirus as soon as possible.
"When you go home, get all your friends, tell them, 'Get a shot when they can," he said. "That's how we're going to beat this."
Meanwhile, White House News Secretary reported that the government will send more than 28 million vaccines to U.S. states this week.
He also stressed that the government does not agree with the idea of a federal vaccine database or a vaccine passport.
"The government is not here now, and we will not support a system that requires Americans to carry a letter of confirmation," Psaki said. "There will be no organization immunization database and no government authority requires everyone to get a single immunization certificate."
Biden has assured people that he will do his utmost to get the country out of the epidemic soon. "I want to have Independence Day - independence without Covid," he said. "How much more will we see death, disease and sorrow from now until now."
