Punjab police recently set up a special investigation team (SIT) to summon  Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and a former CM Parkash Singh Badal on June 16 over 2015 Kotkapura firing case.

To ensure progress, the lawyer, who was part of the legal team, said Badal had been asked to appear in person and the relevant records before SIT on June 16 at 10am at the PSPCL lounge, Section 8, in Mohali.

The SIT led by the new director general of police (vigilance bureau) LK Yadav, and two other members - Ludhiana police commissioner Rakesh Agrawal and Faridkot range DIG Surjit Singh - recently interviewed a number of people, including former police chief Sumedh Singh Saini and former Member of the Akali Legislature from Kotkapura Mantar Singh Brar.

The SIT also relocated the court seeking permission to perform narco, lie detection tools and brain mapping in Signature, suspended police chief inspector (IGP) Paramraj Singh Umranangal and Moga police chief (SSP) Charanjit Singh Sharma.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on April 9 dismissed all reports filed by the former SIT led by (now retired) police inspector general Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh in the case. The country's government is building a three-member SIT that has been ordered to complete an investigation within six months.
