Mamta Banerjee likely to contest from Bhabanipur constituency, as MLA resigns

Mamta Banerjee

Mamta Banerjee is likely to contest from the Bhabanipur Constituency in the by-polls as the MLA from the Bhabanipur seat resigns. The sitting MLA Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay from the Bhabanipur constituency resigns on Friday. The speculation on Mamta Banerjee is too high to contest from the Bhabanipur seat because she also contested from that seat in the 2016 State legislative elections.

TMC led by Mamta Banerjee sweeps up the 2021 West Bengal Legislative elections with a full majority by scoring 213 seats out of 292 but, she loses her seat from her prior right hand Suvendu Adhikari. MLA Shobhaandeb Chattopadhyay submitted his resignation from the Bhabanipur seat to West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay and in presence of the State Minister Partha Chatterjee.

“The Chief Minister has to get elected as a legislator within the next six months. I had contested this year’s election from Mamta Benerjee’s constituency. Today, I am resigning from this seat so that she gets elected from Bhabanipur. I personally and the party wants her to contest from the Bhabanipur. She will now decide the future course of my political career,” MLA Shobhadeb Chattopadhyay stated after signing the resignation.

Therefore, this step by CM Mamta Banerjee depicts that she got afraid of contesting from any other seat and that’s why she wants to contest from her prior seat where she is confident that she will be going to attain victory. Bhabanipur seat is considered to be TMC and Mamta Prone area.
