On Tuesday 4 May 2021, the Uttar Pradesh government announced to provide free Covid-19 vaccines to journalists and their families(18+). It was also decided in the cabinet meeting chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath that a separate vaccination center would be set up for journalists.
The Chief Minister further informed that the State Government has placed an order for one crore vaccines and also floated global tenders for 5 crore vaccines for Uttar Pradesh, to express confidence in successfully carrying out the vaccination campaign in the state.
"We ordered 1 crore vaccines. We have received 45+ vaccines category too. We have purchased directly from the companies. We have also ordered global tenders for 5 crore vaccines in the state. I am sure we will be able to take it. Successfully ahead, ”said the UP CM.
The state government also announced the setting up of Covid-19 vaccination centers inside media houses.
Meanwhile, a partial 'corona curfew' in the state has been extended till the morning of 6 May. The state has also imposed a night curfew which happens daily in all 75 districts.
Uttar Pradesh is one of the states that has been affected by the second wave of coronavirus in India. It recorded 288 fatalities and 29,192 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
