With the rising price of dogecoin, investors are looking forward to Elon Musk's visit to this weekend's "Saturday Night Live" sketch TV show after this year's billionaire tweets turned a hidden digital currency into a speculative dream.
The CEO of Tesla Inc will host the program at 11:30 p.m. EDT Saturday (0330 GMT Sunday). Time puts Musk, also known as a fan of cryptocurrensets, back in space as Tesla's stock loses its smoke following last year's beast meeting.
Musk is a rare business genius who was asked to run a prestigious comedy TV show.
The rare CEO posted a lot of comments about cryptocurrensets on Twitter and criticized the old standard money for having illegal interest rates. "Only a fool can look elsewhere," he said in February.
His secret tweets "Doge" and "Dogecoin are people's crypto" that month began a meeting on dogecoin - created as a joke on bitcoin and the common ethereum - which have yet to be stopped.
"I'm a wild card, I'm not telling you what I can do," Musk said, wearing a black bandana, joking this week in a promotional video for the show and music host Miley Cyrus. "Definitely here," Cyrus said. “Rules? No thanks."
On Thursday, Musk wrote on Twitter: "Cryptocurrency is promising, but please invest cautiously!" and a video clip attached to it saying, “should be taken as a guess at this time. And then, you know, don't go too far in crypto speculation ... "
But he also said, in this video, that cryptocurrency "has a good chance" of being what it calls "the world's future currency."
"My dogecoin has gone up after you tweeted," one person shouted at Musk in the video. “She is amazing. How did you do it? ”
In the crypto data tracker CoinGecko.com, dogecoin jumped more than 800% last month and is now the fourth largest digital currency, with a market capitalization of $ 81 billion. It lasted about 14 percent a day for $ 0.62.
It has access to widely used cryptocurrencies such as litecoin and tether.
"The recent rise in dogecoin is a continuation of a major propaganda trend we have seen in the last few months," said David Kimberley, an investment analyst at Freetrade.
“Most people know what's going on and are looking to jump off the train to make quick bucks. It is very likely that Elon Musk is pulling a coin tomorrow on U.S. first-time TV will work to consolidate things and raise the price.
Tesla said in February he bought $ 1.5 billion worth of bitcoin and would soon adopt it as a way to pay for its electric vehicles, a major step towards a general acceptance that sent bitcoin to a peak of about $ 62,000.
Tesla shares closed 1.3% higher at $ 672.37 on Friday.
