In a cyber attack, the data of passengers of the government airline Air India has been leaked.The company gave this information by releasing an official statement on Friday.The data was stolen after cyber attack on SITA, a provider of Air India co-passenger service system.


New Delhi: In a cyber attack, the data of passengers of the government airline Air India has been leaked.

The company gave this information by releasing an official statement on Friday.  The data was stolen after cyber attack on SITA, a provider of Air India co-passenger service system.

SITA, operated from Switzerland, handles passenger service systems for many airlines around the world.Air India reported that the cyber attack on SITA occurred in the last week of February.

In this, the data of 45 lakh passengers of many other airlines of the world including Air India has been stolen.

These include personal information of passengers registered between August 11, 2011 and February 3, 2021.

The leaked data includes name, date of birth, contact information, passport information, ticket information and credit card data.

Airlines have asked all passengers to change the password. Also assured to take other necessary steps. Air India said that the potential risk from this data leak is being assessed.

SITA has ensured that no unauthorized activity has been observed since the data leak.
