Hurricane Tauktae is likely to continue north, northwest and in the afternoon, its center will be northwest of Goa. But Cyclone Tauktae was uprooting trees and cutting power lines as he passed through Goa on Sunday morning accompanied by strong winds that were causing disruptions to trains and roads. No health losses have been reported so far.

Tauktae, classified as the strongest hurricane, was near Goa at 5am on Sunday morning and its center lies about 125 kilometers from the coast of Panaji, the provincial capital.

The state has seen widespread destruction by coastal floods and falling trees cut off power lines and block roads and railways.

“The typhoon is likely to continue moving north, northwest and in the afternoon, its center will be northwest of Goa. But as the project is a very strong storm, strong winds will continue for most of the day as well as rain, ”said the department.

Falling trees were also reported near the Konkan railway line around the Madgao intersection, disrupting the Netravati Express journey.

In the port city of Vasco da Gama, a tree collapsed on the houses, threatening passengers who had managed to escape with minor injuries.
