Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the examination of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council class 10 and class 12. The final decision on whether the UPMSP class 10 and class 12 examinations will be postponed or held further is yet to be announced.
The postponement of UP Board class 10 and class 12 examinations was in response to the unprecedented increase in COVID-19 cases during the second wave of coronovirus epidemic.
The UP board class 10 and class 12 examinations were originally scheduled to start on April 26.
The board had earlier revised the exam dates and decided to hold it from May 9 and April 14, as there was an increase in COVID-19 cases. The UPMSP class 10 and class 12 examinations were completely postponed.
Postponing the exam of UPMSP class 10, 12, UPMSP said that the UP board class 10 and class 12 examinations will take place after May 20 and a new timetable will be set in the first week of May. However, no date has been announced yet.
A total of 56,03,813 candidates have registered for the UPMSP class 10 and 12 board exams.
Out of the total registrations, 29,94,312 students have applied for class 12 examination and 26,09,501 have applied for class 10 UPMSP examination.
Also, the Uttar Pradesh government has postponed university and college examinations in the state.
“In view of the outbreak of coronavirus, the proposed examinations of the Board of Secondary Education (UPMSP) have been postponed from May 8 to May 20 and university and college examinations have been postponed until May 15.
Decisions on the examinations will be taken in the first week of May. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said in his social media post.
Uttar Pradesh saw a daily increase in 12,513 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, taking the infection to 16,09,140, while 281 deaths brought the total death toll in the state to 17,238.
