At least 178 Palestinian protesters injured, 88 hospitalised after
Israeli police dispersed worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and elsewhere in
Jerusalem.
More than 170 Palestinians have been injured after Israeli police stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque and dispersed worshipers elsewhere in East Jerusalem, as tensions lasted for weeks between Israel and Palestinians over Jerusalem escalated.
Earlier in the day, tens of thousands of Palestinian worshipers flocked to the army on the last Friday of Ramadan and many were left protesting in support of Palestinian people facing forced eviction from their homeland by Israel.
This past week, residents of Sheikh Jarrah, as well as Palestinian and international coalition activists, attended a night vigil to support Palestinian families threatened with forced deportation.
Police and soldiers at Israel's border have raided residential areas using skunk water, tear gas, rubber bullets, and explosive devices over the past few days. Scores of Palestinians were arrested.
