The White House reportedly considering the waiver of intellectual property rights in the production of COVID-19 vaccines.

India Despite being leading Vaccine producer proposed to waive Intellectual Property rights a long ago, which would help world cope up with this endemic more easily, and would definitely help poor countries along with lowering the burdens on vaccine producing countries.

News Secretary Jen Psaki on Tuesday said the US wanted to increase global production of the COVID-19 vaccine at a much lower cost, although no decision had been made regarding the current release.

"There are many different ways to do that. Right now, that's one of the ways, but we have to look at what makes the idea stand out," Reuters quoted Phaki as saying.

Psaki added that the US is considering improving domestic production to make the process more efficient. According to him, US President Joe Biden is yet to make a decision on the matter, and US Commerce Attorney Katherine Tai has not yet made a recommendation.

Currently, the United States is under pressure from around the world to fund a temporary patent waiver that could help many countries that currently have a growing crime rate.

India and South Africa are leading a proposal to revoke the IP rights of companies  that would allow developing countries to produce COVID-19 policies.

To date, the US and other countries have blocked such negotiations with the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Earlier, Tai had said divisions over access to policies between developing countries and developed countries were "completely unacceptable", adding that the industry needed to make sacrifices in times of crisis.

Despite India's and South Africa's proposal which was made a long ago, no step has been taken by any of the developed countries.
