CJI Sharad A. Bobde has recommended Justice N.V. Ramana, the highest court judge in the Supreme Court, to be appointed as the 48th Chief Justice of India.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday appointed Justice N.V. Attend as Chief Justice of India from April 24.
Meanwhile CJI Sharad A. Bobde has recommended Judge Ramana, the highest court judge in the Supreme Court, to appoint him as the 48th Chief Justice of India in a letter to the Department of Justice and Justice on March 24.
“In the exercise of the powers contained in subsection (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution. The President is pleased to appoint Sri Lanka. Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, a judge of the Supreme Court, will be the Chief Justice of India from April 24, 2021, ”said the Department of Justice and Justice.
In this regard, the Supreme Court and the government have complied with the age requirements of the CJIs.
On the day that Chief Justice Bobde praised Judge Ramana as Chief Justice, the Supreme Court issued a brief statement announcing the dismissal of the appeal filed by Andhra's Prime Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy including Justice Ramana.
Mr Reddy complained that Justice Ramana had been involved in Andhra's judicial court to destabilize his government. The complaint was lodged shortly after Judge Ramana's bench began hearing and speeding up the criminal cases against the Minister, legislators and politicians pending trial in the courts across the country. Mr Reddy himself has been named in a number of criminal cases.
Justice Ramana will be the CJI until August 26, 2022. He was nominated as a Judge in the Supreme Court on February 17, 2014 while the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
Justice Ramana was born into an agricultural family on August 27, 1957 in the village of Ponnavaram in the Krishna region of Andhra Pradesh.
