Supreme Court on Monday decided to hear new PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on the corruption allegations on the Rafael Fighter Jet deal.
The PIL was
filed by the Indian advocate Manohar Lal Sharma demanding registration of FIR
and investigation under the Official Secrets Act over the allegations of French
media Report that a French anti-corruption agency, Agence Francaise
Anticorruption (AFA) found something suspicious in the deal between India and
Dassault Aviation of delivery of 36 Rafael Jets with equipment attached to it.
It was alleged that Dassault Aviation
paid a huge amount to the Indian Company about the Rafael deal.
In the bench
led by CJI Sharad A. Bobde, this petition is filed by Advocate Manohar Lal
Sharma which urged the Supreme Court to order the registration of FIR under
offenses including cheating, Prevention of Corruption Act, criminal breach of
trust, and the Official Secrets Act. This petition demanded the court to cancel
the 2016 Rafael deal.
Thus, the
deal is about to end in the last quarter of 2021 when the 36 Rafael jets land
into the Indian boundary this news came into the media and many advocates and
politicians stand against the delivery of the Rafael Aircraft deal. They must
against the one who is involved in the scam, but against the deal as this deal
is very beneficial for the Indian Air force.
