"We have voluntarily agreed to hold the goal: whatsapp."
Whatsapp told the Delhi High Court on Friday that until the data protection bill comes into effect, it would not force users to opt for a new privacy policy as it had been suspended.
Whatsapp also clarified before the bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh that it will not limit the performance of users who do not opt for a new privacy policy at the moment.
Coming out of instant messaging forums, Senior Advocate Harish Salve said, "We have voluntarily agreed to suspend it (this policy) ... we will not force people to accept it." Mr Salve said Whatsapp would however continue to show its updates to its users.
The court hears Facebook and WhatsApp complaints against a single judge's order refusing to suspend a CCI competition regulator's order directing an investigation into WhatsApp's new privacy policy.
