Central University to be set up in Ladakh at a cost of Rs 750 crore, Modi government approved


New Delhi,. Giving information about the decision of the Union Cabinet led by PM Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that a Central University will be established in the Union Territory of Ladakh at a cost of 750 crores. 

This university will also act as a model for other educational institutions there. Local youth will get this decision. The areas of Leh, Kargil, Ladakh will come under the university.

He said that it has been decided to set up an Integrated Multipurpose Corporation. 

This corporation will do important work and infrastructure creation in Ladakh like tourism, industry, development of transport facilities, and marketing of local products and handicrafts. 

Anurag Thakur said that with its establishment, development in Ladakh will be accelerated. It has been brought under the Companies Act, the corporation will have a budget of up to Rs 25 crore.

It is to be known that at present the monsoon session of Parliament is going on, at such a time this cabinet meeting has been held in the middle of the Parliament session. 

Usually, the cabinet meeting is held on Wednesday, but due to Eid being a holiday on the previous day, this meeting took place on Thursday. 

In the last cabinet meeting, the central government had taken an important decision like increasing the DA of central employees.
