New Delhi: The government on Friday extended the deadline for various income tax compliances and said the amount paid by an employer to employees for COVID-19 treatment will be tax-free.
Also, payments received from the employer by family members in case of the death of an employee due to COVID-19 will be exempted from income tax.
The Income Tax Department said in a statement that the payment deadline for the Vivid Se Vishwas Direct Tax Dispute Resolution Scheme has been extended by two months to August 31.
Taxpayers can pay with an additional interest amount till October 31. The last date for PAN-Aadhaar linking has also been extended by three months to September 30, 2021.
The deadline for employees to submit the Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) certificate in Form 16 has also been extended from July 15, 2021, to July 31.
