BCCI President Sourav Ganguly affirms: T20 WC 2021 to be shifted from India to UAE

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly affirms by conforming that World Cup T20 2021 will be shifted from India to UAE due to existing Covid-19 restrictions. The decision is taken amid the increase in health safety concerns due to the disastrous impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This prominent ICC trophy is going to held in October-November, 2021 just after the Completion of 14th edition of IPL.

"We have officially intimated to ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The details are being choked out." stated by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. 

The BCCI President Ganguly and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah were earlier also planning to shift the venue when IPL 2021 was restricted in India due to disastrous impact of Second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

ICC during the beginning of the month also clarified and given a four week window to decide and inform weather India could host the marquee event by considering the Covid-19 situation in the country.

Meanwhile, the authorization to plan and schedule the World Cup T20 matches in the months of October-November 2021 is lies under the authority of ICC. It was earlier reported that the months of play would be October-November.

Thus, India has finally taken the step of shifting the T20 World Cup 2021 to UAE which was earlier scheduled to be played in India. The rising harsh level of Covid-19 in India and infection into the players has resulted in the shifting of the World Cup T20.
