Sudden weather change in Delhi, provides relief from Humid Conditions

The national capital saw a sudden change in weather on Friday evening as dusty and rainy weather hit many parts of Delhi-NCR, uprooting trees in about 80 areas and causing disruption to protesting farmers on the city's borders.

The Delhiites got relief from under hot and humid conditions persisting since last week. Netizens took to Twitter to share photos of the rainbow princess that formed after the rain. Strong winds of up to 60 km/hr blew up in the national capital, the weather office said.

Winds have uprooted trees in 67 areas north of Delhi, including Civil Lines, Shalalimar Bagh and Paschim Vihar, and in 11 areas south of Delhi, including Kalkaji and Nizamuddin West among others, officials said. Similar incidents have been reported in eastern Delhi. It may be the first time since 2014 that the city has not experienced the heat of the summer. No heatwave has been recorded at the Safdarjung Observatory, considered the city's official landmark, to date.

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius during the day, which is less than the average season. The lowest temperature was recorded at 26.1 degrees Celsius, notch below normal. 

A meteorologist has predicted the partial cloudy skies that there may be heavy rain / thunderstorms on Saturday. The highest and smallest temperatures will be around 39 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

On Thursday, the national capital recorded a high of 38.2 degrees Celsius, two dots below normal, and a low of 24.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal this time of year.
