The death toll from Covid-19 in India exceeded 400,000 on Sunday, a tragic circumstances raised due to the Pandemic, when several reports surfaced in recent weeks indicating that the number of people died in the country's second most violent and destructive wave.
While the epidemic is one year and four months old in the country, data shows that more than 60% of all deaths officially reported in the last four months (since March this year), or during India's second wave of infection.
On Friday, 857 young people were reported across the country, taking the death toll from the rare disease to 400,364, according to the official figures of Ministry's Covid-19 dashboard.
A month and a half ago it was noted that a series of provinces such as Maharashtra, Bihar, etc., added to the unreported mass fatalities in the state from the past figures, which increased the number of daily deaths in the country.

This work of reconciliation is reflected in the daily mortality rate in the country. The seven-day daily infection rate in the country dropped to 1,000 a day last week, from a peak of 4,191 in the week ending May 23 - a 76% drop. Analysis of three news organizations - Scroll, The Hindu and The News Minute - showed that the number of fatalities in these provinces was 42 times higher and 4.8 times lower than those officially succumbed by Covid-19 during the second wave.
