The Apex Court ruled on Friday that the decision to grant bail to Asif Iqbal Tanha, Natasha Narwal, and Devangana Kalita, who were discharged on a Thursday evening after residing in prison for more than a year on charges of involvement in the violence in northeast Delhi last year, and it is a "pan-Indian ramifications".
"The issue is important. It has pan-India ramifications and so we would like to issue notice and decide the matter for the good of the country," the Supreme Court stated.
The Supreme Court has issued an announcement was rejected by the Delhi police challenging observations of the Delhi high Court on bail on , activists Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal, and Asif Iqbal Tanha.
The Supreme court held that the contract could not be considered to be a member of, and should not be relied upon for, in the absence of a party to the proceedings before the proceedings before the court began. The Supreme court ruled that it has no effect on the bond of the three suspects at this stage. The problem is, it will be seen, on the 19th of July.
The Delhi High Court based panel of Judges, composed of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Aja Bhambhani on Thursday ordered the release of Natasha Narwal, and Devangana Kalita who are Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students, and a Jamia Millia Islamia student, Asif Iqbal Tanha. The three were released on bail earlier on Tuesday on the order of the Delhi High Court over the northeast Delhi riots last year which caused due to implementation of CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act).
The bail on Tuesday, a Delhi High Court said the charges against the three students are not prima facie indicate any wrongdoing under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
