A day after India announced that it was surpassing the United States in terms of Covid-19 vaccination, Health Department officials said on Tuesday that the country had achieved a milestone faster than the US.
"India has a similar lead in the number of vaccines held worldwide. India surpassed the United States and took 163 days to reach the 32 crore bench. The US took 193 days," a Health Department official said at a weekly press conference.
Giving the break, Co-Secretary of the Department of Health Lav Agarwal said, "27.27crore people were administered for the first dose of vaccine and 5.84 crore people were covered under the second dose of vaccine.

"From May 1 to June 24, 56% of Covid-19 vaccines were given in rural areas, and 44% in urban areas, officials said. Confirming the decline of India's second deadly wave, the joint secretary said India's recovery rate had reached 96.9%.
"There has been a steady decline in cases since India reported a high number of cases, including a steady decline in cases in the regions," Agarwal said.
Officials from the Department of Health also confirmed the approval of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine by the Indian drug regulator DCGI. "Moderna's new coming vaccine license has been granted, the world's first vaccine. This new drug license is for limited use. India having four fresh vaccines prescriptions now: Covaxin, Covishield, SputnikV and Moderna," said Health Secretary VK Paul. VK Paul further added that India will soon finish the talks with Phizer Company.
Therefore, India is proving itself on each platform to tackle the destructive Covid-19 Pandemic. The foreign and health policy of India, is slowly giving prominent results and even improving the International and diplomatic ties with the world. The foreign support for India resulted in providing Sputnik V and now Moderna, latter the country is negotiating with Phizer, Johnson and Johnson and several other companies too for vaccine availability.
