Kolkata Police questions Mithun over spreading hate speech

BJP member and Actor Mithun Chakraborty questioned by the Kolkata Police for around 45 minutes through the video conferencing over the allegation of spreading hate speech while campaigning for BJP during the West Bengal Assembly Elections, 2021. Mithun joined BJP in March-April campaigning in the presence of PM Narendra Modi at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground.

A local police officer Mrinal Kanti Mukherjee in his comments towards the press accepted the procedure of the questioning with Actor cum Politician Mithun but, refused to elaborate the meeting updates. Yet, it is also reported that their is no immediate comment from Mithun and BJP over the incident.

The local resident of the Kolkata Mrityunjay Pal filed the complaint on May 6 against Mithun for spreading the hate speech or preaching the violence in the state by calling himself "Cobra" which is a monologue which signifies him as the Cobra whose bite can kill anybody.

Earlier Mithun Chakraborty been to the Calcutta High Court over this complaint with the purpose of quashing the case against him, but contrary to that the Court allowed the Police to question him through Virtual means. 

Therefore, the Bengal elections are one of the biggest and most controversial election as the current situation in Bengal is embarking the violence against the particular religion or a party. The Post Poll violence is the proof of that whereas targeting the opposition party's leaders or workers is also against the principles of the democratic country.
