Congressman Kapil Sibal present his remarks on Sunday that the country needed a "resurgent" Congress, although he also called for the party to make changes at various levels.
"India needs a regenerative Congress but it must also show that it is working and in a state of meaningful engagement," Sibal stated, adding that the party needed a vote for the party, a change in the middle and government to show that it is not long in the state of inertia. "
The former union minister went on to say that at present, there is room for more political action in the country. "The country needs a strong and credible opposition party," stated Sibal, a member of the INC's and G-23 member. He also emphasized the "urgent" need for a balance between the younger and more experienced leaders of the party.
Sibal's comments come at a time when Congress is facing issues on many fronts. The group also saw the rebellion of a few new leaders moving into the BJP. On June 9, two Lok Sabha MPs and former union minister Jitin Prasada joined the BJP, more than a year after the overthrow of Jyotiraditya Scindia, which led to the collapse of the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh. In some provinces, where Congress is in power, there are tensions that could cause problems for the party. Former Rajasthan's deputy CM Sachin Pilot, who resigned last year and is residing in Delhi over the feud between him and CM Gehlot and is also expected to meet Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday. In the Punjab, there is a feud between Current CM Captain Amarinder Singh and former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Punjab is all set to go to the state assembly polls early next year. In 2017, Congress, under Current CM Captain Armrinder won a majority, ousting the BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government. However, in the recent April-May 2021 assembly polls in held in four states and in the a Union territory, Congress was found only winner in Tamil Nadu which is due that they are the member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam coalition (DMK).
Thus, it can easily seen that Congress Party is losing trust among the population of the country. The Congress party is governing only 3 states and out of them 2 are currently facing a huge political crisis between its leaders whereas the G-23 group is also seems a serious concern for party.
