China's Nanjing University (NJU) using women to lure applicants, Faces Criticism
One of the top
universities in China is facing criticism for using women to lure
applicants by a sexually aggressive online advertisement.
One of China's leading universities, is to be criticized for the use of the women, in order to attract applicants to the six-to-read on-line advertising.
Critics point out that the Nanjing University (NJU) objectifies women.
The university posted a message on Weibo on Monday, the first day of the Gaokao exams, in order to take the National College testing in China.
According to the South China Morning Post, the ad featured pictures by the current of the students hold placards in front of the various parts of the campus.
Two of the pictures, caused the most criticism. One of them was a sleek, with a woman holding a sign saying: "do you want to live with me in the library in the morning to late at night?", and someone said, "do you want me to be a part of your youth?"
The other photos, especially of men, who hold the signs do not have the seemingly bold text.
For example, a person described as a placard, which read: "If you would like to be an honest, hard-working and ambitious student in New Jersey?"
The advertisement was controversial at the online in no time.
"The problem with this picture is that he treats women as if they belong to someone else. These women's back in New York city, but they are now a part of one's youth? This is ridiculous, " said one comment on Weibo.
Another wrote: "to the Best universities, you can write, play, have to rely on your resources, and you are college graduates, rather than the use of hot men and beautiful women, in order to attract the men."
