A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud whereas Solicitor General Tushar Mehra represented the Central government and Rahul Mehra appeared from the GNCTD side. The Central Government was heavily reprimanded by the apex court for failing to handle the Covid-19 crisis in the national capital.
The Apex Court directed the Central government to seek advice and extrapolate the BMC in Delhi also. The Centre agreed on that and said that BMC has done a commendable job in treating the Covid-19 cases of the Pandemic. The apex court demanded a full-fledged model by the Center in treating the Pandemic by 10:30 am tomorrow.
The Supreme Court directed to increase the supply of oxygen to 700 MT in the capital as the present supply is not enough to tackle the harsh circumstances in Delhi. The SC further directed the Central government to inform about the oxygen supply to the Capital by midnight.
Therefore, the oxygen supply and the efficiency in the system are very essential to put obstacles in the path of persisting Covid-19 situation. Here, the apex court plays a great role in showing a mirror to the government (whether state or the central).
