PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a financial help estimated at ₹500 crore in Odisha after Hurricane Yaas. He said the center would send a delegation of ministers to visit Odisha and West Bengal to assess the extent of the damage, depending on what other assistance would be provided.

Odisha did not seek any immediate package from the relief and relief center after the cyclone Yaas. The government, however, was seeking the assistance of a disaster protection plan and protection from coastal storms.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's air inspection over the Yaas hurricanes in Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, in a meeting with the Prime Minister at Bhubaneswar airport, said Odisha did not want immediate financial assistance from the central government as the country is suffering through a disastrous second wave of the Pandemic.

Prime Minister Modi, who arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 10.50am, was received by Governors Ganeshi Lal and CM Patnaik, among others. Later, he held a review meeting at the airport with Governor, CM Patnaik, DGP Abhay, Secretary General Suresh Mohapatra, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and the Minister of State for Fisheries and MS Pratap Sarangi. After the meeting, the Prime Minister continued the air inspection of the worst-hit regions of Balasore and Badrak.

Earlier in June 2020, the state government, during a visit to the Interim Central Task Team to review the situation of Cyclone Amphan, requested a  ₹20,000-crore package from the Center to build the province's most resilient disaster management facility each year to rehabilitate and rehabilitate disaster-related disasters, among others.

Therefore, the visit of PM Modi to Odisha and assessing the situation of the Cyclone Yaas will morally give strength to the affected ones of that region. The another big thing is that Central government announced ₹500 crores for the affected ones due to the cyclone this will impower or fulfill their needs that they lose due to the Cyclone (monetary terms).
