Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said those indulging in black-marketing of Remdesivir injections in the state are being booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said those who indulged in black advertising of the government's Remdesivir injections were booked under the strict National Security Act (NSA).

He also said the assets of blacksmiths or black marketers would save their lives.

Adityanath, who was visiting Kanpur, said efforts were being made to ensure that the speed of the COVID-19 vaccine increases nationwide next month.

The national government will have a second wave of COVID-19 later this month, he added.

He added that the government was making the necessary arrangements to treat black fungus as well as to improve infrastructure in children's hospitals.

A 100-bed pediatric care unit (PICU) will be set up at a medical college in Kanpur, the prime minister said.

Meanwhile, the NSA has summoned a man arrested last month for allegedly marketing blacks with the Remdesivir vaccine, police said on Saturday.

The suspect, Sachin Kumar of Haryana, was arrested along with representatives of two doctors, said Kanpur Police Commissioner Asim Arun.

Remdesivir injections taken from Kumar during his arrest were later found to be false, he said.

"In practice, we slapped Kumar for selling counterfeit Remdesivir injections," Arun said.

Under NSA conditions, a person can be detained without charge for up to 12 months if the authorities are satisfied that the person is a threat to national security or law and order.
