Delhi Court on Wednesday granted bail to Matrix Cellular chief executive officer (CEO) Gaurav Khanna, Deputy President Gaurav Suri and two others in a case against them after their entire oxygen concentrator stock was seized by Delhi police in Lodi Colony and Mehrauli area last week.

According to the prosecutors case, the defendant was "conspiring" to extort money by "soliciting" the public and selling "imported oxygen concentrators" in large quantities "during the epidemic.

Seeking bail in the case, a lawyer for five detainees had argued that there was no "black marketing" and in the absence of a government order calling for a sale price, the MRP was amended after considering various costs incurred by Matrix Celluar while importing and selling equipment. The arrested suspects were represented by Senior Advocates Mohit Mathur, Trideep Pais and Advocates Samudra Sarangi, Sherbir Panag, Vineet Malhotra and Advocates Shruti Raina, Srishti Khare, Abhilasha Khanna, Moha Paranjape, Nishtha Agarwal, Nitya Jain.

While complying with the bail order, the Court had ordered the State to arrest private individuals who sell oxygen suppliers imported “at large prices” to consumers while it is out of control. It was also revealed that oxygen concentrators were imported not only from China but also from EuropeMatrix Cellular's application for immediate release of the detained oxygen concentrator cell was pending before the Delhi High Court.

Therefore, these types of cruel practices must need to be stopped to preserve humanity especially in these tough times where the Pandemic is taking lives.
