Adani Green Energy on Wednesday announced the acquisition of Softbank's SB Energy's 5 GW renewable energy portfolio with an estimated business value of $ 3.5 billion.
MUMBAI: Riding behind a strong rally in the stock market price of his companies several months ago, millionaire Gautam Adani passed through China's Zong Shanshan and became the second richest man in Asia, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. In February, India's richest man and Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani replaced Chinese businessman as the richest man in Asia.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Adani's value stands at $ 66.5 billion compared to Zhong Shanshan's $ 63.6 billion. Adani's fortune has increased by $ 32.7 billion this year. On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani has lost $ 175.5 million so far with his total wealth of $ 76.5 billion. Ambani is currently the 13th richest person in the world followed by Gautam Adani on the 14th, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
By early 2021, the richest man in China was the sixth-richest man in the world and the richest man in China with $ 63.6 billion following the listing of his two companies.
Adani's fortune came back after an increase in the shares of Adani Green, Adani Enterprises, Adani Gas and Adani Transmission. Adani Total Gas's stock fell 1145% over the past year, while Adani Enterprises and Adani Transmission shares accounted for 827% and 617% respectively. Adani Green Energy and Adani Power received 433% and 189%, respectively, during this period, while Adani Power increased by 142%.
Gautam Adani, who started out as a stockbroker, today owns companies across ports, airports, energy, resources, labor, agriculture, wealth, financial services, gas distribution, defense businesses, among others.
Adani Green Energy on Wednesday announced that it would receive Softbank SB Energy's 5 GW renewable energy renewable portfolio of business worth an estimated $ 3.5 billion. The transaction marks the largest acquisition in India's renewable energy sector, the company said.
The acquisition of Adani Green is one of the examples of the slowdown the party has been participating in for the past two years, with the aim of expanding its dominance in India's infrastructure sector.
In March, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd acquired a 58.1% stake in Gangavaram Port Ltd in D.V.S. Raju and his family are 60,604 crore, winning to control most of the private port of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It had previously received a 31.5% stake in the port from the Warburg Pincus.
In September, the group made a bold bet at the moment, controlling Mumbai airport in the GVK group, without getting a controlling stake at Navi Mumbai International Airport. It also acquired 50 years of operating rights at newly established private airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati.
