Farmers completed Six months of the protest, holds Black flag day

farmers Protest

Farmers in Punjab and Haryana raised black flags in their homes on Wednesday, joining a black call from protesting farmers' unions to celebrate six months of tensions on the Delhi border in violation of three Central Farm rules.

Around 12 Opposition groups, including Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and the Aam Aadmi Party, have expressed support for Samyukt Kisan Morcha's call for the day to be a Black day. Morcha is a coalition of opposition unions.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal hoisted a black flag at his home in Badal village in Muktsar district and urged the Center to accept the need for protesting farmers. INLD Secretary-General Abhay Singh Chautala followed suit at his Teja Khera farm in the neighboring Sirsa region of Haryana.

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday called on the center to resume talks with protest farmers whereas Punjab's prominent leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife also raised Black Flag on the their house in order to support protesting farmers . This step by Sidhu even highlights the differences with Punjab CM Amrinder Singh.

However, the farmers called this Black Day after Union Government didn't respond to their letter posted for the resumption of the talks between both over repealing three farm laws and procurement of MSP law.

Therefore, farmers and the government need to think about the existing Covid-19 situation of the country and put this issue on hold for the till the  ongoing second wave of the Pandemic lasts. The farmer leaders must think about those who are protesting and their security from the Pandemic.
