With a one-day increase in 3,49,691 new coronavirus infections, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 1,69,60,172, while active cases exceeded the 26-lakh mark, according to Department of Health data updated Sunday.

The death toll has risen to 1,92,311 with a daily recording of 2,767 young people.

White House News Secretary Jen Psaki said on Friday that the United States was working closely with Indian political officials and experts to find ways to help resolve the issue.

Deputy State Department spokeswoman Jalina Porter also told reporters that the United States continues to work with India to facilitate the flow of essentials and to address the challenges of supply chains.

Many U.S. legislatures, prominent American Indians and powerful US Chambers of Commerce have expressed their concern over the state of India and called on Biden officials to provide assistance, issue policies and other sensitive consumer goods in India.
