The Legendary Indian actor Rajinikanth will be honored with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke award for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. This was informed by union minister Prakash Javadekar on 1 April 2021. The Dada Saheb Phalke award 2019 should have been announced last year but was postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic.
''Prakash Javadekar had announced on 2 November that Rajinikanth will be honored with an icon of golden jubilee award at IFFI this year.
After the dada saheb Phalke award was announced, the Prime minister congratulated the superstar Rajnikanth on Twitter and he said ''POPULAR ACROSS GENERATIONS, A BODY OF WORK FEW CAN BOAST OF DIVERSE ROLES AND AN ENDEARING PERSONALITY. Karan johar invited Rajinikanth to the stage along with Bachchan and the ministers, as seen in a video shared by the official page of the press information bureau on youtube. It is expected that on 3 May, the award will be given to Rajinikanth Ji.

According to IFFI 2019, Rajinikanth acted in 206 films in a career spanning 44 years. can put them in 1975.he made his acting debut with director K BALACHANDRA'S APOORVA RAAGANGAL in 1975. Rajinikanth has been honored with several honors including PADMA BHUSHAN (2000) AND PADMA VIBHUSHAN (2016).
