The Court took note of the alleged distribution of over 10,000 vials of Remdesivir and other important medecines.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday sought to know from the center as how private individuals obtain Covid-19 drugs such as Remdesivir directly from pharmaceutical companies, while companies are required to supply its entire product to the facility, which allows for provincial distribution.

A panel of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish S Kulkarni did this while listening to a PIL filed by city attorney Sneha Marjadi alleging mismanagement of the Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra and seeking clues regarding Remdesivir and oxygen deficiency among other issues.

The Court noted the distribution of more than 10,000 Remdesivir containers by the Ahmednagar Parliament after purchasing it in Delhi and added that its Aurangabad Bench was already aware of the same on Monday.

Dr Sujay Vikhe Patil of BJP, Member of Parliament for the state of Ahmednagar, last week bought and distributed 10,000 Remdesivir injections.

On Tuesday, HC asked the centre's attorney, “How can 10,000 vessels be fitted with a flight from Delhi on a chartered plane? Wouldn’t it be a private personal distribution? Delhi itself is in trouble. ”

"We want these drugs to reach everyone in need and should not be in the hands of a few," said Judge Girish S Kulkarni.

The court was told that the incident in Ahmednagar should not be seen in private and that many private individuals were buying the drugs.

In this regard, Bench said, "If we find other situations where Pharmaceutical companies offer Remdesivir directly to private individuals, we will pass an injunction on them."

Bench also instructed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to inform him of the operation of its Covid hospital bedding fence (1916) and sought to know how BMC could ensure that empty beds were immediately displayed on the BMC dashboard website.
Seeking answers from the institution and the government of the country, the Court scheduled for the next hearing on Thursday, April 29.
