Bombay HC on Monday orders the Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) Director to conduct the investigation process as a
preliminary inquiry into the corruption allegation on Anil Deshmukh by Ex
Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. HC orders CBI for 15 days inquiry
in the case by terming it as an extraordinary and unprecedented case.
On March 20, Param Bir Singh three days after he removed
as Mumbai Police Commissioner’s post and transferred to Home Guards wrote an
eight-page letter to CM Udhav Thackrey by alleging HM Deshmukh for how he
directed suspended and arrested ASI Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 Crore from
1750 Bars and Restaurants as a bribe based in Mumbai. He also added that HM
forced him to do but he refused, as a result, that he is transferred to the
Home Guards.
Bombay HC believes that the CBI probe is necessary in
this case because HM Deshmukh can temper the shreds of evidence as Mumbai
Police comes into his hands. A divisional bench which includes Justice Dipankar
Datta and Justice G.S. Kulkarni remarked that they agree with Singh’s advocate
Vikram Nankani that this case is unprecedented and extraordinary and they
included that this case needs independent inquiry as HM can lead the case. But
CBI need not register an FIR in this case.
At last, Deshmukh resigns 3 hours after the court orders the CBI probe. Resigns by writing a letter to CM Udhav Thackrey. Nawab Malik said that all the allegations are vague and fake on Deshmukh.Dilip Patil will be next Home Minister of Maharashtra.
