‘sex tourism’ racket bursted by Mumbai Police trap, 2 detained from airport, 2 victims rescued

The Mumbai Police laid a trap at the airport after getting information. Two victims were also rescued and sent to shelter home.

Police had set a trap  at Mumbai airport where police officers acted as clients after being tipped off about a woman running a sex tourism racket with her partner. The woman, according to police, was arrested in 2020 under The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, ANI reported.

A trip to Goa is planned and the two girls are completed by the suspects, as evacuated.

"A trap has been set at the airport where the three girls met an official and others acting as obscene customers. In exchange for air and air tickets, with the signal they received, the group arrested the three women," police said in a statement.

"During the interrogation, the officers found out that the main suspect had entered the detention gate and obtained a boarding pass," a police letter said.

The main suspects were arrested with the help of CISF and airport police. He was arrested during the interrogation, where he pleaded guilty. Later, he was brought before a court that gave him one day's detention by the police.

The victims were sent to shelters, police said when they were released.
