Queen ‘irritated’ by world leaders and criticizes them for only talking and not doing anything on climate crisis
Overheard comment suggests anger at possible no-shows at Cop26 by leaders of countries with worst CO2 emissions
The Queen has criticised world leaders’ inaction
on addressing the climate crisis, admitting she is “irritated” by
individuals who “talk but don’t do”.
The Queen has criticized the inefficiency of world leaders in addressing the climate crisis, acknowledging that she is "annoyed" by people who "speak but do not act".
He made the remarks, taken live, during the opening of the Wales parliament in Cardiff on Thursday.
In an interview with the Duchess of Cornwall and Elin Jones, the parliamentary speaker, the Queen addressed the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow starting on October 31, which is expected to be attended by other members of the royal family.
He said: “The strange thing is not. I've been hearing all about Cop ... I still don't know who's coming. I have not the foggiest idea.
"We only know about people who don't come ... It's really annoying when they talk, but they don't."(ads2)
Jones replied: “You are right. It's time to do ... and watch your grandson [Prince William] on television this morning saying there is no reason to go into space, we need to save the Earth. ”
The Queen then smiled and said: “Yes, I learned about it.”
Prince William had criticized billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos for opening up a tourism space instead of focusing on environmental problems on Earth.
"We need more brains and brains in the world focused on trying to fix this planet, not trying to find the next place to live."
The Governor of Cambridge also expressed his displeasure at the inefficiency in dealing with the weather crisis earlier this week and expressed his concern over the climate conference at Cop26.
He told the BBC: “I think Cop can speak clearly and honestly about what the problems are and what the solutions will be.
"We can't talk smart, smart words but not enough actions."
Among the world leaders yet to be confirmed for the Cop26 UN summit are Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

The Queen's comments are similar to the comments made by her son Prince of Wales in an interview with the BBC earlier this week.
Prince Charles said he was concerned that world leaders would "just talk" when they met in Glasgow. “The problem is getting the steps down,” he said.
The Prince of Wales also expressed surprise that Morrison would still confirm his presence and believes the Glasgow summit is "the last chance to get a chance" to take international action on climate change.
