US Capitol Police officers sue Donald Trump over January 6 attack
Seven U.S. Capitol Police have filed a lawsuit against former president Donald Trump and members of opposition rights groups on Thursday, accusing them of being directly responsible for the January 6 congressional attacks.
The case is one of many that has been filed against Trump for the efforts of thousands of his supporters to prevent the granting of Democrat Joe Biden victory in the November 2020 presidential election.

The latest lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington by The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights on behalf of seven Capitol police officers Fighting Trump supporters in the Capitol.
Among those charged in the court are Trump, the Trump campaign, which accompanies Trump and Roger Stone as well as members of right-wing groups from the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and Three Percenters.
The case alleges that they were involved in "an illegal attempt to use force, intimidation, and intimidation to prevent Congress from securing the results of the 2020 presidential election."
"As a result of the illegal actions of the defendants, the complainants were violently attacked, spat upon, shed tears, sprayed with bears, insulted and racist, and threatened their lives," the complaint said. Five of the officers in the suit were black.
Damon Hewitt, president and executive director of the House of Representatives Committee, said the January 6 attack was "a clear attempt to block the votes and voices of millions of Americans, especially Black voters."
"Several months after the 2020 elections were officially called, former president Trump and his allies made a concerted and systematic effort to file their illegal electoral fraud claims," Hewitt said.
"The lies of this conspiracy are deliberately aimed at empowering whites and activist groups and encouraging them to mobilize attacks on the Capitol."
Trump has also been targeted by lawsuits filed by Democrats over the January 6 attack and the House Select Committee has opened an investigation into the attacks on Congress.
The select committee issued a heated appeal Wednesday to National Archives and seven state-owned companies to obtain records related to the attack, including communications from Trump, his family members, his top aides and a number of former members of his administration.

Trump has always refused to accept his defeat at Biden and continues to make baseless claims that he won the election.
A local real estate official was interrupted by the Democratic Alliance House in January for inciting rebellion but the Senate found him not guilty.
