Preferment of Sidhu as Punjab Congress President, signs end of War of Sardars

Navjot Singh Sidhu

Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has been elevated to Punjab's President amid a severe confrontation with Captain Amrinder. The decision came after the feud between Sidhu and Captain Amrinder worsened; this decision is also treated as a relief to the Congress High Command as they diverted one more loss.

The nomination will take effect immediately, according to a media report signed by Congress leader KC Venugopal. Sangat Singh Gizian, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goel and Kuljit Singh Nagra have been appointed as the active Presidents of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. The feud between Punjab's CM Captain Amarinder Singh and Sidhu has long escalated, and Sidhu has rebelled against the Captain. Congress High Command has been trying to reach out to both sides of the congressional leadership to prevent the castle from collapsing before the upcoming Punjab State Legislative Assembly elections, 2022.

The Punjab formula will be accepted by all, commented CM

Before the reshuffle, the ten ministers jointly issued a joint statement supporting the Captain, saying Sidhu was a celebrity and undoubtedly a valued member of the Party. However, his Party's public criticism created divisions and urged with to apologize openly.

Meanwhile, through the decision, Sidhu would be promoted as the Punjab Congress President, and Amarinder Singh would remain the face of the CM in the upcoming elections was a way that many people did not know. On Saturday, Sidhu met with Sunil Jakhar, who has been in charge of the Party's state wing.

Amarinder Singh met Sonia Gandhi last week, while Punjab Harish Rawat, Secretary-General of the Presidency in Punjab, met Sonia Gandhi on Friday. After a meeting with Sidhu, Rawat also said there was no question of replacing the Captain with the CM in the constituency. His administration was well received by the Punjab people, who did not try too hard for their political leadership.

Amarinder Singh was not in favour of Sidhu's rise as he wrote to Sonia Gandhi that the appointment of Jat Sikh to the post would offend senior Hindu leaders representing the Hindu community. However, he has maintained his official position that he will accept any decision taken by the High Command. Reports said the Captain had made it clear to Harish Rawat that he would not meet with Sidhu until he publicly apologized for the tweets against the Punjab CM.

Thus, in the eyes of the Public, this confrontation has been ended but, the reality is different as CM Amrinder is still upset with the irrational comments of Sidhu over him. The feud between these two giants has been relaxed in the Public's eyes, but they are like Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot within themselves.

These types of wobbling conditions within India's Strongest and Oldest Party is very worrying. As the Party is currently facing several feuds within itself, whether we talk about the Sachin-Ashok conflict or the G-23 group, the Congress suffers a lot due to their careless and nepotistic behaviour.
