Zika virus in Kerala has further accelerated by bringing the number of infections to 48 in the State, Health Minister Veena George said on Sunday as 2 more person tested positive for the infection. Of the 48 people with the disease, a total of four are active patients, added George. New cases have been found against a 27-year-old man from Kazhakoottam, and a 37-year-old man from Pangappara - both in the capital Thiruvananthapuram, the government said.
The presence of the virus in their samples was detected after tests performed at a virology laboratory at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. In addition, none of the infected patients in the province were admitted to the hospital and we are all stable again, the release said.
