COVID-19: This family provided free oxygen cylinders to patients,Know it Here


MUMBAI: Pascal Saldanha, 55, and his family are doing an exceptional service during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in India. The Saldanha family has so far given free oxygen cylinders to more than 200 patients.

Shabana Malik, who received free oxygen cylinders from the Saldanha family, said, “My husband got Covid last month. He needed oxygen cylinders for 12 days. Then, Mr. Saldhanha came to our rescue. He gave us an oxygen cylinder Gave it. Free for all those days. He also helped with ration and medicines."

Five years ago, Rosie, the wife of Pascal Saldhanha, had a kidney failure. He then suffered a coma, dialysis, and even a brain hemorrhage. He had to keep an oxygen cylinder in the house at all times.

When the principal of the school in Malwani, Mumbai, where Shabana Malik teaches, asked Mr. Saldhanha for help, he and his wife immediately gave away their cylinder.

Ms. Saldhanha went a step further.

“After giving me an oxygen cylinder, my wife felt that many COVID patients were struggling to meet this basic requirement. My wife said she had some jewelry they could sell and get money. and start this initiative of providing free oxygen to the people.

Seeing Pascal Saldhanha and Rosie Saldhanha, their younger son Salome also decided to do something to help people.

“I started helping with the same requests through Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. When they reached out to me, I used to tell them that an Aadhar card and doctor's letterhead were needed.

 Then we used to form a team and Used to deliver oxygen cylinders at the doorstep. Such people. So far, we have helped 200 to 250 people," Salom Saldanha said.

It is not just oxygen, Saldhanhas has also donated two tonnes of pulses and grains to help the people of his area who were struggling for food. What started as a seven-cylinder service in March has now become a campaign.
