Government approved the 4G Spectrum for Indian Railways

Union Government on Wednesday announced that the Indian railways will now going to be equipped with 4G spectrum for communication, and, thus replacing the existing 2G and decrease more than that of the communication channels. The decision came after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime minister Narendra Modi. 

It is further also added that the government is going to improve the automatic train protection mechanism in India, assign them to a train collision prevention system, in order to ensure the safety of passengers. 

“Until now the railways were using optical fibres for communication but now this modern spectrum will bring radio communication to railways and with the help of such setup, real time communication can be established. This will increase safety to a great extent and will transform the railways greatly...,” Prakash Javadekar stated, during the press conference.

Javadekar added that, the automatic train protection and the strengthening of the Indian railways, through the implementation of a collision avoidance system. He even stated, that the total expected cost of this project is around ₹25,000 crore.

 Along with this, with reference being made to the system in order to subsidize the companies that produce fertilizers, Javadekar said that the government has decided to increase the production of urea in the country, in large quantities, which would have been imported.

Telangana-based fertilizer company Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, has taken advantage of the scheme, which ceased to exist in 2019. Javadekar said the company is expected to produce in excess of a total of 1,200,000 tons of urea per year. 

"This is a further step towards the Aatmanirbhar Bharat, as this will reduce the burden on urea imports," he stated, adding that the government wants to create more of these kinds of installations, the use of more reimbursement.
