A prominent Congress leader cum MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi and a four time MLA from Mariani in Jorhat district resigns from the party. It is also reported that he would probably join BJP on June 21. MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi's exit is treated as a much big loss to the party as compared to Jitin Prasad.
MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi is son of veteran Congress leader and 3 times MLA Rupam Kurmi. The creative difference between the party members and a feeling giving priority to the leaders based in Delhi which close to one family causes Rupjyoti Kurmi to exit the party.
Rupjyoti Krmi stated that only old leaders and one who are close to Gandhi family are promoted in Congress these days. He further stated that Rahul Gandhi is unable to shoulder the responsibilities of the party and further criticized the INC for aligning with AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front) led by Badruddin Ajmal during Assam Elections.
However, the exit of the Assam INC leader Rupjyoti Kurmi is not highlighted by the Indian Media even though he is a strong leader in Assam or can effect other seats too. Rupjyoti and his father achieved a lot through Assamese trust that's why had a strong base in the Assam especially in the tea tribe areas where he is the only leader from Congress who managed to win seat for party whereas other failed to win.
Therefore, this loss is very huge for the Congress and can even had a cruel impact over the Party's functioning and trust among other leaders of Congress. Likewise, Jitin Prasad Rupjyoti is also a young face in the party. After, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Jitin Prasad, Rupjyoti is another young and prominent face from his region.
The Congress party is currently in devastated mode as their most of the leaders are angry with the party's functioning which includes G-23 leaders and other young and youth attracting faces. The Congress need to tackle this alarming decline.
