When it comes to cricket history, the teams of West Indies and Australia are definitely mentioned. Under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd, West Indies ruled world cricket in the 1970s and 1980s.
Backed by batsmen like Viv Richards and deadly bowlers like Malcolm Marshall, the West Indies under the leadership of Clive Lloyd proved to be the seed of every team in front of them.
West Indies won the 1975, 1979 World Cup, while in 1983 also the team managed to reach the final.
Similarly, Australia also established its rule in the 1990s and maintained its dominance in cricket for many years.
Under the leadership of Virat Kohli, Team India has left its mark in world cricket in the last few years, which is being recognized by everyone. However, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar doubts that this Indian team will be able to rule like West Indies and Australia.
Speaking on Cricket Analyst's YouTube show, Gavaskar said, "I am not completely sure that they (Indian team) will be able to dominate the way West Indies did. He used to win all five matches, even Australia used to win four out of five.
I am not sure that Team India will also be able to do the same because they have a team of tremendously talented players, but they are not able to perform consistently at some point of time, which you must have seen.
This is the only reason why I have to hold my breath to some extent.
However, when it comes to the ability of this team, I think the sky is their limit.
Gavaskar further said, 'Clearly not all 11 players are successful in the game of cricket.
But, if four of them - two bowlers and two batsmen - succeed, you win as many matches as possible. And Team India has the capability to do the same.
The Indian team has played tremendous cricket in the last few years. The team defeated Australia in the year 2018 and again in the Test series at their home in 2020. After this, the team led by Kohli beat England 3-1 in the home Test series.
