Center's guidelines regarding Black fungus in Children below 18 years, know what are the instructions

New Delhi,The Directorate General of Health Services, DGHC, Union Health Ministry on Wednesday issued guidelines for the prevention of black fungus or mucormycosis in adolescents and children below the age of 18 years.

According to the Ministry of Health, mucormycosis is a serious fungal infection caused by incorrect or overdose use of steroids, cancer, organ or stem cell transplantation, diabetes not properly controlled or prolonged ICU treatment.

 
The DGHC said in the guideline, 'Do not wait for test results to start treatment for mucormycosis as it is an emergency.'
 
Mucormycosis is a serious disease that causes damage to the nose, ears and throat as well as other parts of the body.

Also it states that those who cannot be given amphotericin B should be given posaconazole. It states the dosage of this medicine for children under 11 years of age.

It has also been said in the guidelines that the medicine taken at the beginning of treatment should be repeated only when needed.

Cases of black fungus infection were seen more in patients infected with corona or recovering from corona.

Due to this, after the eyesight of the patients is lost, the eyes have to be removed so that the infection does not increase.Its infection is being seen in people who have diabetes.

Doctors say that the use of steroids in the treatment of Covid-19 patients may be a cause of fungal infection.
