“The trusts were interested in buying this land but wanted to finalize all the previous agreements first so that the ownership of the land could be released.  About 9 people have participated in this agreement during the last 10 years, out of these 9 people, 3 are Muslims. All 9 people have been contacted, discussed.  After obtaining their consent, they all came to meet to decide on their previous agreements," the statement said, adding that the agreement was concluded "transparently" with the final owners of the land.

The trust further said that it has already purchased 3-4 plots including temples and ashrams, adding that for every temple/ashram/private property purchased, “the land of their choice should be provided for rehabilitation and funding  . Enough to donate for the construction of your buildings”.

Elaborating on the detailed history of the land transaction agreements, the trust said that on March 18, Ravi Mohan Tiwari and Sultan Ansari, by deed of sale for an amount of Rs 2 crore, gave the land registered under numbers 243, 244 and 246 "appraisal  bought with  Circle rate Rs 5.80 crore and stamp Rs 5.80 crore for valuation.

The statement said that Tiwari and Ansari had signed an agreement to sell this land to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust on the same day.

“The agreed consideration amount was Rs. 18.50 crore. A payment of Rs. 17 crore has been given as advance per online transaction,” he said.

The temple trust also said that the land was at a prime location and the price for which it was purchased was much less than the actual market rate in Ayodhya.

The statement comes at a time when several allegations of corruption have surfaced under the Ayodhya land deal and it is claimed that Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, had bought the land at an inflated price.

At a press conference in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh's AAP official and Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh earlier said: The land in Ayodhya is registered under numbers 243, 244 and 246.  Its value is from Rs 5.80 crore.

It was bought by Sultan Ansari and Ravi Mohan Tiwari from Kusum Pathak and Harish Pathak for Rs 2 crore.  Two witnesses to the purchase were Anil Mishra, a member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, and Rishikesh Upadhyay, the mayor of Ayodhya.  It was bought at 7:10 pm.

Within five minutes, the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust and Champat Rai bought the same land from Ansari and Tiwari for Rs 18.5 crore.  17 crore was transferred through RTGS.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had sought clarification from the temple trust on the purchase of land.

Congress chief Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that misuse of donations by devotees is a sin and an insult to their faith.

Lakhs of people have offered their offerings at the feet of the Lord with their faith and devotion. He had earlier said in a Hindi tweet that the misuse of these donations is unfair and it is a sin and an insult to his faith.
