U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday (local time) announced that Washington would complete Israel's Iron Dome air defense programs that ended in a recent battle with a Palestinian group in Gaza.

Israel relies heavily on batteries at the Iron Dome to hold thousands of rockets fired at its base from Gaza and elsewhere.

"The [Israeli] Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu] ... shared with me his gratitude for the Iron Dome program, which was built by our nations together and that saved the lives of countless Israeli, Arab and Jewish citizens. "Iron Dome to ensure its security and safety in the future," Biden said in a statement.

Biden's comments come after Israel's security cabinet unanimously approved Egypt's move to end the unconditional war, which will take effect at 23:00 GMT on Thursday. According to an official statement, Israel's security cabinet has unanimously approved Egypt's move to end the war.

He also promised to provide immediate relief and reconstruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza after the war between Hamas and Israel.

"We remain committed to working with the United Nations and other international stakeholders to provide immediate social assistance and support to the people of Gaza and efforts to rebuild Gaza," Biden said.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the end of the Israeli-Palestinian fire and urged all parties to look into it. "I welcome the end of the fire between Gaza and Israel after 11 days of deadly war," Guterres said on Thursday. "I urge all sides to look for a solution to the fire."

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday said dozens of rockets had been fired at the Gaza Strip in southern Israel just minutes before the fighting began.

"Some rockets are being fired in southern Israel from Gaza. An important reminder: 4,340+ rockets have been fired from Israel since last Monday by Gaza terrorists," the IDF said.

Both sides have been rocket-propelled, resulting in the deaths of 217 Palestinians and 12 Israelis.
