Tenure of both IB and RAW chief has been extended by the PMO for one year

PM Narendra Modi

PM Narendra Modi on Thursday extended the stay of Samant Kumar Goel, Secretary, Research and Analysis (R&AW), and Arvinda Kumar, Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) for a year. Two 1984-batch IPS officers from Punjab and Assam-Meghalaya cadre respectively have now retired on June 30, 2022.

The decision to extend the stay of the two spies was based on their work and the future of the organizations. Goel was a hard worker, while Kumar was known for his political readings. Both work under the auspices of the Prime Minister, Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

While the government remains intrigued by the RAW activities, the IB has been providing a practical response to the government on the internal security situation including political protests, Maoist activities and terrorist networks.

Therefore, this step by government of India and PMO office is very important as both the Intelligence chiefs have served a commendable tenure with their hard work and making the system efficient. The intelligence is proved very beneficial for India under them as they have provided several internal and perfect information before the time about several uprising and terrorist events in the country.
