India's top commissioner P Kumaran has described Kejriwal as "incompetent" in commenting on the Covid-19 diversification, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

The Singaporean government on Wednesday asked the Indian ambassador to file a petition with Delhi's prime minister Arvind Kejriwal over a new version of the Coronavirus suspected of being found in a Southeast Asian country.

High Commissioner P Kumaran described Kejriwal as "incompetent" in commenting on the Covid-19 variant, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

Hours after Kejriwal wrote on Twitter on Tuesday about the new allegations of Coronavirus in Singapore and asked the Center to immediately suspend flights from that country, the Singapore Department of Health dismissed his claim saying the most common difference in most Covid-19 cases in recent weeks was "B .1.617.2 , developed in India ”.

"The Singapore government has called on our High Commissioner today to extend strong opposition to Delhi CM's tweet 'Singapore variant'. The High Commissioner has made it clear that Delhi CM does not have the capacity to comment on various types of Covid or aviation policy, ”said Tagchi.

Earlier Wednesday, Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan quoted Kejriwal's first tweet and wrote on Twitter: “Politicians must hold on to the truth! There is no ‘exception to Singapore’. ”

Balakrishnan included in his tweet a link to an article published in Nature entitled "Various species of Coronavirus are spreading in India - what scientists know so far". The report said Coronavirus variants including B.1.617 have been linked to a significant increase in infections in India in recent weeks.

People familiar with the development say under the circumstances that the Singapore government has reacted strongly because Kejriwal's remarks did not go down well with the people of Singapore. Many people had taken a quote from him and publicly complained about them, people said.

A statement from the Singapore Department of Health on Tuesday quoted Indian media reports as quoting Kejriwal as saying: "There is no truth to these assurances in these reports."

The statement added: “There is no‘ exception to Singapore ’. The most common complication in many Covid-19 cases in recent weeks is the variance of B.1.617.2, native to India. Phylogenetic experiments have shown that variant B.1.617.2 is associated with multiple Singapore groups. ”

Kejriwal has called on the center to immediately suspend flights from Singapore as it is suspected that the new type of children is affecting children. He also argued that the new strain, which could lead to a third outbreak in India, said the Center should focus on identifying children's vaccines.

Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri responded to Kejriwal's remarks that there were no regular flights between India and Singapore, with the exception of a few under Vande Bharat's mission to repatriate Indian people.

Kejriwal had said in a tweet in Hindi: “The new Covid-19 form that has arrived in Singapore is said to be very dangerous for children. In India, it may come as a third wave. My appeal to the Central Government: 1. Air services and Singapore will be canceled immediately. Most importantly, immunization should be done for children as well. ”
