Over 12,000 Oxygen Cylinders, 4 Lakh remdesivir to be sent to States: Center

New Delhi: To counter the second wave of COVID-19, the Government of India has so far dispatched 10,796 oxygen concentrations, 12,269 oxygen cylinders, 19 oxygen production plants, 6,497 ventilators / BI-PAPs, and about 4.2 lakh Remdesivir vials to various states. An official press release stated that these items were distributed between April 27 and May 13 this year. It stated that on May 12 and 13, large consignments were received from countries such as Indonesia, Luxembourg, Oman, South Korea, UK, USISPF, Finland, and the like. It said that a dedicated coordination cell has been created in the Union Ministry of Health to coordinate the receipt and allocation of foreign COVID relief materials in the form of grants, assistance, and donations.

This cell started functioning on 26 April. A standard operating procedure has been formulated and implemented by the Ministry of Health from 2 May.
