Kerala Government Warns Private Labs Against Overcharging For Covid Testings

On Saturday, the Kerala government said that if any private testing laboratory in the state charges more money from people for RT-PCR or other COVID-19 test rates then action will be taken against them. The state government said that the private labs RT-PCR test was revised by the government at Rs 500 per person.

the order said that Excessive charging and going away is a major challenge for the state which is a disaster to control the disease. So this is an action against the state and the people during these extraordinary times of crises and disease.

If any private laboratory has refused to test at the rates prescribed by the Government or the fee more than the rates is considered an offense under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance, 2020 and other relevant such Laws and provisions of action will be introduced according to the laboratory.

The Chief Minister's Office informed on Friday that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan  Friday directed to take stringent measures against private hospitals.

There were 35,636 new COVID19 cases, 48 deaths, and 15,493 recoveries in Kerala on Saturday. The death toll has reached 5,356.

The CMO tweeted and informed the District Collector and the police that if anyone in the state violates the law then strict action can be taken against them.
