Gang broke around three ATM's based in Kolkata, steals ₹39.6 lakhs

A gang in Kolkata broke into three ATMs on a private bank between May 14 and 22 and stole ₹39.6 lakhs in several installments, police stated.

Kolkata police detectives, while investigating the case, found that no equipment in the New Market, Jadavpur and Cossipore area had been broken.

The hackers made the machines withdraw money by connecting to the bank's server using a small device that appeared to be attached to the ATM wires, told Murlidhar Sharma, the joint commissioner of crime (crime).

Experts have told police that encryption at the end of the connection between the ATM terminal and the bank server was broken. Similar cases have occurred in Delhi before.

A type of ATM, which had not been developed to stop such crimes, had been hacked, Sharma said. The three cases were registered by the bank on May 25 and 28. Police are looking for criminals.
